The Cape cobra, also called the yellow cobra, is a moderate-sized, highly venomous species of cobra inhabiting a wide variety of biomes across southern Africa.
On our first day in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape in South Africa we drove north along the Nossop River Valley. On the side of the road was a very large Sociable Weaver nest in a tree and we knew that snakes loved to comb through these large nests looking for eggs or young birds.
It was not long before we spotted this Cape Cobra. Even though we drove past this nest numerous times over the next 2 weeks we never again saw a snake.
