In 2024 the aurora (Northern Lights) were particularly active, so much so that they were visible much further south than normal.
This photo was taken in October 2024 at 11:00 PM at night. One of the best aurora I have ever experienced.
Red and purple colours are rarer than green auroras, as they require specific energy levels and altitudes for the oxygen and nitrogen atoms to emit their respective colours. The orange is typically caused by the mixing of red and green auroras.
