Today’s photograph dives into one of my favorite disciplines: macro mushroom photography. While these shots don’t seem to resonate as much with my audience, I genuinely enjoy the process of capturing the intricate beauty of these tiny forest gems.
Recently, the team at Irix Lens kindly sent me their Irix Lens 150mm Macro Dragonfly —a lens I first tested years ago when I was starting out in macro photography. Returning to it now, with better skills and techniques, I appreciate its performance and quality even more. Huge thanks to Irix Lens for the support!
This particular image was taken last weekend at Fervenzas da Reixidoira, where I had the chance to slow down and “capture” these twin mushrooms growing on moss-covered branches from a fallen tree. Laura was the one who spotted them, and I spent time experimenting with light setups to enhance the mushrooms' detail while maintaining the dreamy, ethereal atmosphere I aim for in these images. With the sun rising, the warm natural light added a soft glow to the final composition, complementing the scene perfectly.
Puré beauty. You have talento
