Today, I’m sharing another sunset shot from Virxe do Porto, one that had been waiting in my hard drive for the right moment.
What draws me to this composition is how the islet, crowned by the small hermitage, naturally splits the image in two, creating what almost feels like two separate photographs within one frame.
On the left, the scene is dynamic and intense—the ocean churns, waves crash, and the last rays of sunlight bathe the water in gold. One of my favorite details is the breaking wave, glowing with golden light as it catches the sun’s reflection.
On the right, the mood is entirely different. The sea is calm and undisturbed, as the outer rocks shield the area from the crashing surf. The shadows are deeper, as the hermitage and islet block the sun, casting this side into relative darkness.
It’s an image of contrast and duality—a communion of two distinct moments, captured in the same instant.
Outstanding!
Thank ypou Dave Buckner!
