On Wednesday Patrick and I are flying to NY to shoot our next Fstoppers original BTS video. This video is going to be huge... so huge that I don't want to talk about it because I still fear it may not happen. While we are up there I wanted to grab drinks with Peter Hurley but then I thought: "why don't we instead grab drinks with a bunch of photographers!" So we are going to open this up to any and everyone. This Thursday at 7:30 we are going to meet up at "The Ainsworth" bar at 122 West 26th Street NYC. I will be there with Patrick Hall, Jerrit Pruyn, and the talented but unstable Peter Hurley. As many of you know I am a talented artist and so I created a illustration of what the night might be like. Anyway, if you are in the area and interested in hanging out then please add me to facebook and warn me that you are coming. We hope that everyone will come and hang out; as you can see by the picture it's going to be a good time.

A few weeks ago we created a post that showed a few shots from what I believe will be our most popular Fstoppers video yet. I am currently editing the video and I hope to have it finished some time next week. Until then I thought it would be fun for you guys to critique my favorite shot from the shoot and then when the video launches we can see if your opinions change. Chase Jarvis has apparently figured out the secrets of creating a viral video. I think he released this video 3 days ago and it already has 50,000 views. I don't mean to keep posting CJ videos but they are all really good so here another. Check it out! <

One of our readers Rhett Bingham just sent this over to us. I really do not see the point in this at all but it is so well shot that I have got to promote it. Even though I would never ever do this for any reason, it blew my mind that someone would. ><

James Karinejad has officially raised the bar on this contest. His team shot Emma Michelle's music video and he created a great BTS video to show us everything that went into making this a successful piece. The only thing this BTS video is missing is the actually images! But it is still really cool so I will give it a pass. They wrote: "Hand launching a custom built Canon 5D Mark II aerial drone from a boat in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico to capture oil spill imagery: Although we are able to hand launch our drones in very confined space, we've never done this from the back of a very unstable pitching and rolling boat...in rain and drizzle. Over $10,000 in equipment can be lost in an instant! Between boat movement and gulf winds this was an extreme challenge! What a great show of talent"

Zak Shelhamer has just submitted his contest entry; a behind the scenes video of him shooting his buddy on a motorcycle. The shoot isn't complicated at all and that is why I love it. If you didn't know, the GoPro HD is a cheap video camera that shoots stunning HD footage. These guys attach it to a weather balloon and then let it fly (what appears to be) into space and then they use GPS to retrieve it. Is this for real!?!
