On the D3100, D5100, and D7000, Nikon placed a rather low video recording time limit for a single clip. Currently, it's somewhere in the area of ten or 20 minutes, depending on the model. However, Nikonhacker.com has come up with a crack that will extend this limit to a much more reasonable 25 to 30 minutes. Read after the jump for more info!  

In the age of cutting back and serving the mass consumer, seemingly little has been done to cater to smaller, more precisely defined markets. But Canon's new 60Da announced today marks an exception.

We all fall off the tech wheel every now and then. And lately, it's been anything but easy to keep up with all that's been happening. Well, worry not. We have an update for you on everything that's happened and everything that should happen soon. Read on for info on Canon, Nikon, Leica, and Zeiss...  

What's Here Now:

The Nikon D800 has been much criticized for its enormous megapixel count. And some have worried that packing 36 megapixels into a full frame sensor might lead to decreased low-light performance. These samples, however, push those worries aside. It's no D4, but for 36 megapixels, I think Nikon should win an award for this.

Canon's flagship 1D X was announced quite early. But thankfully, it's now available for pre-order at B&H PhotoVideo or at Adorama! The 1D X features full 1080p video, better autofocus, an insane 12fps continuous shooting at the full 18 megapixels, and improved metering, among plenty of other features you'd expect from the best of the best at Canon.

Today, Lightroom 4 is available for pre-order through B&H or on Amazonfor $150 and will likely start shipping as soon as tomorrow. The price is news on its own, as it's half the price of previously released versions of Lightroom. Adobe is really making this accessible to everyone! 

Along with the 5D Mark III just announced, Canon announced a new speedlight, the 600EX-RT. The 600EX-RT is Canon's first speedlight to introduce a wireless radio capable of communicating with up to 15 other units at a range of 30m. Just as impressively, the flash features the same weatherproofing standard as Canon's flagship 1D X.

You heard right: the camera that changed everything has been updated! The preferred video DSLR of the industry just got even better with the Canon 5D MKIII (pre-order at BHphotovideo). But is this new camera good enough to withstand the pressure from Nikon's two new bodies? MAYBE... According to a report by the Phoblographer, Kodak is said to have confirmed it is discontinuing all of its slide film, including E100VS, E100G, and Elite Chrome Extra Color 100. This comes after several news points since Kodak discontinued its famed Kodachrome film three years ago and subsequently filed chapter 11 bankruptcy in January this year. My advice: get it while you can... 

A relatively new 'sky sport' out there makes use of a wing suit. Want one yourself? You'll first have to log at least 200 sky-diving jumps just to buy one. Here, via Gizmodo, Jeb Corliss jumps on a beautiful day, but cuts it just a little too close... Luckily, for those that have the stomach for it, we have a first-person view thanks to a helmet-mounted GoPro.

Nikon shocked everyone when they released a whopping 36-megapixel, SLOW D800. No one can call this a 'replacement' for a D700. It's not as fast and has three times the number of pixels. And at only $3000, they destroyed their D3x line.

Even more so than the week of the Nikon D4, this is the most exciting week for gear news in a long time. There is news that I don't like, a bit that I don't get, some that is just plain stupid, and then some that is unbelievable -- I'll believe it when I see it! The new stuff is short and sweet.

As many of you might know, Nikon has announced that it will stop selling replacement parts to independent repair shops. This will ultimately reduce the quality and speed of your service -- period. After months of waiting and following terribly teasing rumors and small photo leaks, Nikon finally announced the D800! We're all waiting for the Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark III -- no question. It's around the corner, but this week, if you're looking for a new point-and-shoot or mirrorless camera, we have plenty of those: the last few manufacturers are 'catching up' on the mirrorless front. So here's an overview of what happened this week, and cross your fingers for February 7th!

With a fantastic new sensor that eliminates the need for an anti-aliasing filter, producing dramatically sharper images with less noise than any chip in its class, the Fuji X-Pro 1 is Fuji's breakthrough of the year. It features a minimalist design and classic rangefinder functionality in a modern, mirrorless body.

Via Engadget, Canon had a tough time last quarter -- Canon had a tough year, in fact. While net income rose slightly (just under 1%), profit fell almost 14% compared to the year-ago quarter. This leaves Canon with almost a 2.5% decline in comparison to the 2010 fiscal year. With this news, COO and President Tsuneji Uchida announced he is stepping down.

Mirrorless cameras are everywhere, now. By removing the standard mirror arrangement, manufacturers have been able to cram huge sensors similar to those in DSLRs into the same, tiny bodies as their point-and-shoot cousins. And if you Google "DSLR in your pocket," half of the images that come up are mirrorless cameras. But does this hold true? And is the mirrorless right for you?

ApertureAcademy has an interesting article by Stephen Oachs about a recent sighting of someone who apparently works for Canon. He seemed to be testing a new Canon 5D (or perhaps 7D) series camera. At some point, he also had pulled out a 600mm lens along with a new 200-400mm lens with -- get this -- a built-in teleconverter! Brilliant!

Sony's new XQD cards and compatible card reader are now available for pre-order on Adorama. Pre-order the 32GB card, 16GB card, or the card reader for delivery in February.

As much as we've all been hoping there must be some way for Kodak to save itself, today marks the beginning of...a new beginning. Credited for bringing photography to the masses and creating the industry's leading film technology, we're sad for Kodak's continuing struggle. At least, however, there is hope: Kodak does expect to be completed with restructuring in 2013.

The new, much-awaited, and potentially game-changing cinema camera from Canon, the EOS-C300, is now available for pre-order at B&H in either the Canon EF mount or the PL mount. Between Nikon's D4 announcement at the end of last week and this week at CES, it's been (and will continue to be) an exciting time of imaging innovation. In this post, we'll re-cap some of the top innovations that have been introduced recently and what these new features mean for you -- in the real world.

The new Canon PowerShot G1 X launched today. It has a 14-megapixel larger-than micro four-thirds sensor, allowing for increased light sensitivity and depth of field. One crazy new feature, among many: this camera can store facial recognition for individuals alongside names and birth dates. This allows the camera to give auto-focus priority to the youngest in the group!

As expected, today, Fuji released their much-awaited X-Pro 1 mirrorless camera, featuring a revolutionary, new organic sensor that supposedly rivals 35mm image quality and even color fidelity. We'll wait to see what reviews say (stay tuned for video and photo updates as they come up), but if true, this technology could give Nikon and Canon a run for their money.

When it comes to new DSLRs for 2012, Nikon has come out guns blazing! With the announcement of their flagship digital DSLR, the Nikon D4, professional photojournalists finally have the camera of their dreams. Now with the release of the Nikon D800, landscape and portrait photographers have a long awaited "little brother" of Nikon's $8000 flagship high megapixel D3x camera.

We've all seen leaks after leaks about Nikon's newest flagship DSLR. Some of us have been saving forever. Some of us are still saving. Some of us just want the price of the D3S to drop, and then some don't care much because they shoot Canon. Well, whichever we might all be (I'll have mine on order soon), the time has come.
