Leica has unveiled a new L mount zoom lens: the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. 

It seems like the mirrorless/DSLR realm operates in a different dimension to phone cameras. Sony’s new a1 body boasts a 50-megapixel full-frame sensor and is cutting edge, yet Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra claims to have a 108 MP sensor — and now there are some wild rumors about upcoming 200 MP phone sensors. 

When Canon confirmed the EOS R3 recently, it highlighted specs that went toe to toe with Sony's flagship a1: 30 fps continuous burst rate, eye-controlled autofocus, a vertically integrated grip, ultra-weather-resistant body, and a sensor with much faster readout times.

Canon has been releasing some mightily impressive lenses ever since they first dipped their toes into the professional mirrorless market, and it looks like they are showing no signs of stopping. The company recently filed patents for three new lenses, with one of them being yet another that pushes the boundaries of design.

Today, Apple announced a new vibrant series of iMacs, all powered by the M1 chip. With a 24" display and 11.5 mm in thickness, they are a departure from the established iMac design.  

Polaroid has launched a new pocketable instant camera with its very own smaller film format. 

At 2.6 inches wide (66mm), the new film is approximately three-quarters of the size of traditional Polaroids. The iconic SX-70 and 600 films measure 3.4 inches wide (88mm).

A couple weeks ago, we saw Canon begin to discontinue DSLR lenses for its EF mount, indicating its ongoing transition and commitment to mirrorless cameras and lenses. The transition is continuing, as the company has discontinued more EF lenses, including two rather popular models.  

A photographer in New York has filed a class-action complaint against Sony for alleged defects that cause unreasonable failures in the shutter of the wildly popular a7 III. 

The Canon EOS R5 is the company's highest-resolution mirrorless camera to date, but as the general 5D analog, it actually is not meant to be the company's high-resolution body. This means we will likely see a high-resolution RF mount body at some point, and it looks like Canon is aiming to clear 100 megapixels.  

Nikon mirrorless fans will be pleased to hear that the company is planning at least a dozen new lenses for the next 12 months, greatly expanding their lineup and filling in both some popular and premium options.

Sony recently announced the FE 50mm f/1.2 GM, a spectacular lens that pushes the boundaries of the E mount. It seems they are not slowing down, as we will likely see three more lenses next week.
