The open field behind my house had not been mowed in several months and the wildflowers attracted several butterflies that I could not resist photographing, and I thought it would be a good time to practice tracking moving subjects. The butterflies didn't seem to mind me being there, so I sat in the middle of the field and started tracking this large swallowtail butterfly. I shot almost 80 photos of this butterfly and while processing them I was disappointed to see that most were either out of focus, perched on a flower or not fully in frame. I had one photo left to process and I was so excited to see that the subject was beautifully focused, in frame and its wings perfectly positioned that I let out a little yelp! This was shot on my Nikon D7500 using a Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G lens at 1/3200 sec at f/5.6 with ISO 560.
