Puffins spend the majority of their life at sea, returning to land for about three months to raise a single Puffling. Iceland is a major breeding ground for Atlantic Puffins. This image was taken on an Icelandic island off North Iceland and just on the edge of the Arctic circle. The birds use burrows along steep ocean cliffs but will sometimes pose along the top of the cliff, if you are patient. Taken at sunset the blue background is the sea while the grass bokeh comes from raindrops. Image was shot with a Sony A1 and 200-600mm lens (wide open at 6.3).
