When/Where:
I positioned myself at the east end of Runway 25 at Abbotsford (YXX) on Wednesday August 5, 2026 before the Fri/Sat/Sun Abbotsford International Airshow hoping to capture a few early arrivals landing on Runway 25, but some of the aircraft landed on Runway 07 (opposite direction).
How:
This photo was captured handheld on my Canon R5 Mark II with a RF200-800mm lens at 800 mm and 1/2500, f/9.0, ISO200.
There was quite a bit of smoke/haze in the air from the forest fires in British Columbia and Washington, USA that gave the sun an orange glow.
Two CF-18s from the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 410 Tactical Fighter Operational Training Squadron arrived late on Wednesday from Cold Lake, AB. Even though they were using Runway 07 they did a flyby and banked just in front and above me. This photo was taken almost into the sun.

I would have liked to see the plane fully in the frame.
Ian, agreed would have been nice. These aircraft coming towards you at speed, you don't have time to zoom back out. I often purposely use photos of aircraft that are "clipped" as it creates edge tension and your mind fills in the blanks. :) But none the less, having the whole aircraft in this photo would have been nice.
