Rukmal Ella is not one of the well-known waterfalls in Sri Lanka, but it has a quiet, hidden beauty of its own. Located along the Dedugala Road from Bulathkohupitiya, this is a place that may not immediately reveal its photographic potential.
When I first saw the waterfall, I honestly couldn't find a composition that caught my attention. Instead of leaving immediately, I stayed there for a while, observing the water, rocks, surroundings, and changing perspectives.
Slowly, a few compositions began to appear.
This photograph is the result of that patience. What initially seemed like a difficult location to photograph eventually gave me a frame that I consider a top-class waterfall photograph in my collection.
Sometimes the best composition isn't visible when you first arrive. You have to stay, observe, and give the landscape time to reveal itself.
