Sunset in Koggala

Koggala Beach is one of my favorite places in Sri Lanka to experience the beauty of sunset. The changing colors of the sky and the warm evening light can create something different every time.

But what makes this photograph special to me is not only the sunset. Along this part of the beach, plant roots naturally extend into the sandy shoreline, creating an unusual foreground that you don't often see in typical beach landscapes.

I wanted to use these roots as an important part of the composition, connecting the natural textures of the land with the open beach and evening sky.

It is a different way of seeing Koggala not simply as a beautiful sunset beach, but as a landscape where the beach, vegetation, roots, and sky come together in one frame.

Sometimes, an uncommon foreground can completely change the way we see a familiar landscape.
