A new month brings a new Sony announcement, or at least that’s the way it seems to be going as of late. I’m not complaining. Big news in the world of Fuji today. They’ve just announced the release of two new models - the mid range mirrorless, interchangeable lens 16.3 megapixel APS-C sensor XE-2, which replaces the XE-1. The also announced the compact point and shoot XQ1, which supersedes the XF1. Both cameras are available for pre-order now and will be shipping next month, in November.
All great timelapses typically take a long time to produce and this piece is no exception. Justin Majeczky spent over 18 months on this project scouting locations, exploring angles, and taking over 20,000 photos for his Sacramento timelapse. The Syrp Genie is a great, though imperfect, timelapse machine that has recently added another trick to its arsenal: repeatable motion. According to NBC News, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is getting close to announcing new rules for recreational drone use, beginning with the requirement to register every drone a person buys. Registration itself, however, is not a large obstacle to drone ownership and operation, as registration will only be able to help the FAA keep track of just how many there are and, hopefully, identify aircraft that break rules or cause collisions. But just how effective will this be? And what other laws will come in the way of recreational drone flight?
