Madison Mood

Near Ennis, Montana, the famed Madison River braids into a myriad of smaller channels and side streams. Moose bed in the willows, while sandhill cranes and the occasional trumpeter swan fly overhead. This is also the home of the the wary brown trout, luring fly fishers from all over the world, who challenge their skills in hopes of a tight line hookup.

In 2020 we hid out from Covid-19 for several weeks here, renting a cabin next to the world-class river. Each evening found us stalking trout among the channels, and as a fly fishing photographer, my greatest challenge was deciding whether to grab my rod or my tripod!
