In 2020 during the height of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, we hid out from the virus for a couple of months by renting a fishing cabin on the Madison river. Each evening my son and I would work the braided channels in search of trophy trout. After a few late spring storms had passed, I had come to expect some pretty dramatic skies, but this sunset almost caught me by surprise. Luckily, at the last minute, I had decided to pack my camera and tripod in addition to my fly rod. When the colors began to emerge, I knew the trout would be safe, at least for another night. Rivers speak to me, and are my "happy" place. What is yours?
