Thors Hammer, Death Valley, California

One of the things I try to portray in my desert photography work is how desolate some of these areas are. Death Valley has the hottest temperature ever recorded. I have been there in early May when it was over 120 degrees, and that isn't even in July or August. This place truly is desolate though. I had a flat tire in Death Valley one time in August in the late afternoon. Changing that tire was brutal! I used a Toyo 45A for this image with a 65mm Grandagon lens, a #21 light red filter and Kodak Tri-X film
