Two Rivers that are several thousand miles apart. The one on the left is in Alaska. We were hiking in the Tongas and I climbed down a very steep river bank, in fact I thought I might fall down it since it was very steep and slick from the almost constant rain they get there. The other is from Montana where I was hiking along the Avalanche River looking for what I thought might make an interesting photograph. The image has just never made sense to me until today. I had foot surgery a couple of days ago so I can't move around as much, and while looking at images from files these two suddenly made sense. Hence the title, the River that Never Was. I may make a mural of this for my dining room. Both were done using a Toyo 45 A. The Alaska photograph was made using Tri-X film and a Fuji 210mm lens. The Montana image was made using T-Max 100 film with a Rodenstock Sironar - S lens. The challenge for me was to blend them together so that they became believable as a single river. FStoppers requires a date, and wont accept multiple dates. So I just put in a random date to fill the blank.
