Mt Whitney, Lone Pine Peak, Alabama Hills

It was winter, and I had driven to California to visit my mother at Christmas. The trip had been pretty unproductive in terms of making photographs. The last morning I was there I drove out to this location hoping for an interesting sky... but the sky was completely bald. However, I was there and I would leave from this spot to my home in New Mexico, so I thought "why not". Turns out it is one of my favorites from that area... bald sky and all.
