Recently, a grieving father, Nathen Steffel, posted a simple request to have a picture photoshopped which resulted in a response that was more than what he expected. His daughter, Sophia, passed away Thursday after a long battle in the children's hospital.

Facebook has officially released their new app, Slingshot, which was accidentally leaked/teased to the app store early last week and then quickly removed. It appears that Sony is getting ready to start implementing a new CMOS curved sensor into their cameras that will be taking the quality of images to an entirely new level. We have seen news of curved televisions, phones, and more, but this is something relatively new to the photography scene and it is sounding like it will be a great upgrade. 

GoPro is getting ready to release their official IPO (Initial Public Offering) and join the stock market within the next 2 weeks. It's official! The world's fastest mirrorless camera lens is going to be shipping worldwide in the very near future. With a 40mm focal length perfect for many situations, the lens is topped with a maximum aperture of f/0.85. The prime lens is now in stock based on their press release. Looks like the Voiglander 17mm f/0.95 has some competition now! 

Instagram has just released some of its most significant photo editing features that we have seen from them since the release of video sharing. Instagram is making it clear that it has no plans of fading out in the near future.

Lomography has officially began a Kickstarter project to try and fund their first release an instant film camera. Multiple colors, lens choices, exposure settings, and more! With 30 days to go on they currently have $32,000 raised of their $100,000 goal. The settings for this camera look pretty cool and, I think, worth backing. 

Zoom North America has officially announced the release of their brand new H5 Hand Recorder. With many features you will find on the flagship H6 microphone but for more than $100 less, the H5 employs a system of interchangeable input capsules, allowing the best microphone to be used for every recording situation.

In case you didn't know, Amazon recently put out a patent on White Seamless Studio Photography which a lot of photographers found to be quite bogus. You can read our article about that here. Colbert put out his video of him ripping on Amazon with some pretty humorous jokes and going a bit in depth into the patent they filed. 

According to ThePhoblographer, Calumet Photo was recently bought out by C&A Marketing and is set to become operational again in the very near future. Currently, C&A is looking in to how they can re-activate the online web services and possibly opening up some of the actual stores. Rentals, repairs, sales, and much more should be making a comeback from Calumet Photo. 

Two security guards stopped a photographer, Benn Jordan, in Chicago who was trying to take a timelapse video and things went very south very fast. They took his cards away from him and formatted them and also, he claims they damaged some of his gear.

Andrew Dean from HillBillyGripTruck.com posted his updated video shootout of the Gh4, Gh3, 5d3, 7d, and C100. The results were pretty cool and we were able to get a nice side by side view of quality from each of the cameras as they were all setup to be relatively close in settings.

As much as I love to use Amazon for buying products, this had me scratching my head. Amazon user Keith Fuller posted his 5 star review on the Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens that hasn't been released. Oh, and he even pointed out that he does not own the lens. He hasn't even tried it out. NICE! 

Yes, Terry Richardson is making the headlines AGAIN. But this time, he seems to have outdone himself from the last few times we have wrote about him. In 1991, NASA sent out a hacked Nikon F3 with a Kodak digital back out into space. The camera was called the Kodak Hawkeye II. I was born in 1993 and even in that time, this kind of technology was almost unheard of.
