Mount Whitney, Lone Pine Peak and the Alabama Hills

Many people think that the highest mountain in this image is Mount Whitney, since it is the tallest peak in the contiguous United States, However, from this viewpoint Lone Pine Peak is the tallest one. I had been in the area for a few days making photographs under a mostly overcast sky, which I happen to like. I had my location staked out for this one, and since the weather was forecast to break up and be partly cloudy I thought I would get and interesting cloud structure over these mountains. It was not to be. An absolutely bald sky greeted me, but as it turned out I really liked the result.
Toyo 45A camera, 300mm Rodenstock lens, #21 Dark Orange Filter and Kodak T-Max 100 film.

This was the last photograph of the trip for me. Loaded up my two dogs, Kodak - a Golden Retriever and T-Max, a black and white Border Collie.
