Dawn Over the Twin Lakes

One of the highlights of my latest autumn trip — a breathtaking sunrise at Lagos de Covadonga, in the heart of Asturias.
This panoramic view had been in my mind for quite some time. The goal was to capture both Lago Enol and Lago Ercina in a single frame, from the hill crowned by the iconic shepherd’s hut. I wanted to play with the natural symmetry the scene offers, using the cabin as the central axis connecting both lakes.
That morning, nature delivered in the most spectacular way. The sky ignited in shades of red, magenta, and gold — colors so intense they barely seemed real. It lasted only a few minutes before the clouds started to fade, but those brief moments were pure magic.
It’s one of those shots that live in your head for years — and when everything aligns, you know you’re witnessing something special. The result might not be a new perspective of Covadonga, but it’s my version — one that carries the memory of an unforgettable morning in the mountains of Asturias.
