When the Wave Breaks

Today I’m sharing a photo that had been quietly waiting on my hard drive for the past couple of months — one of my very first outings with the Brightin Star 16mm.

And what better place to test a new lens than the beloved Praia de Campelo?
A wild, beautiful shore I’ve visited countless times — I could almost draw a map of its rocks from memory. Still, the sea is never the same twice. It has a will of its own, wild and untamed, and no matter how well you think you know it, it always demands your respect.

I wanted to capture the precise moment a wave hit the foreground rock, bursting into a silky umbrella of water over the sand.
Just then, the sky began to burn with gold as the sun neared the horizon — an unforgettable moment of light, movement, and texture. A perfect evening carved by wind and water.
