Everyone gather around and learn how Lee Morris got our San Franciscan features editor, Jaron Schneider, fired from his previous job. In the latest installment of the TogTools Fstoppers series, Jess and Stephen have an engaging chat with Jaron where we learn the interesting tale of how he got started at Fstoppers. More intriguing perhaps are the insights on how he deliberately made his work go viral and how you can do it, too.
Jaron’s client list is so expansive that it would probably be easier to list the companies he hasn’t worked with rather than has. He knows video, he knows cinematography, and he knows what makes for great content. In this podcast, we are fortunate that he spends some time to go over how to make a great behind-the-scenes video, such as the extremely popular “Blair Bunting Flies with the Thunderbirds” (see below).
At the end of the session, Jaron gives budding photographers some sage advice about the importance (or unimportance, rather) of gear. The conversation leads in to microphones where Jaron has a few product recommendations, such as the Sennheiser G3 wireless lavalier, and why he chooses to use them over boom microphones. I should note here that Jaron wanted me to send along his apologies for misquoting the price of the Rode SmartLav+ in the podcast. They are in fact $79.00, not $26.00 as Jaron mentions in the interview. That's still well under the price of other lav mic solutions, though.
From now until Fall, a video will be released every week featuring one of the Fstoppers writers. Topics range from food photography, concert photography, commercial photography, wedding photography and more. These podcasts are focused on the business side, such as how to advertise, brand and break into markets.

Yeah sorry about the mis-quote on the RODE mics price guys! I got them with a bundle of other equipment so I guess their actual price didn't really stick in my head. My bad!
@Jaron thanks for the clarification! We forgive you :) And thank you again for taking the time to chat with us!
