Before Fstoppers.com launched I was in NYC at a scuba store preparing for my trip to Belize. I was talking to the store owner about underwater photography and Christopher Lynch walked up and joined in the conversation. Chris explained that he was a professional commercial shooter and after some great advice he gave me his card and went on his way.
Simon Carter is a professional rock climbing photographer. I have to admit, after watching this video I'm a little jealous of Simon being out in the middle of nature shooting these amazing climbers. Most of us will probably never tackle anything like this but it is exciting to see artists like Simon sharing his talent in the video format. It's also nice to see more Nikon D3s footage.

This was a dream job! To shoot a bikini catalogue in an exotic country with a great team! We were flown over to Bali from Australia with myself (Glen Bowden - Photographer), Stylist - Michelle Bennett, Makeup and Hair - Mia Connor and Vanessa and her family from Veve Glamour Swimwear. The model was Amanda Klaassen.
One video that crossed our desk the other day was by Los Angeles photographer Kesler Tran. His use of pretty simple lighting in a very remote location really creates for some great photographs. A lot of you will really appreciate the extra effort Kesler takes to build a simple two sided mini studio wall out in the desert.
This week I thought I'd mix up the Fstoppers format a bit to introduce you to a good friend of mine and an amazing photographer Brownie Harris. Brownie is based out of Wilmington, North Carolina and shoots all sorts of projects all over the country. I think I was first introduced to his work through the praise of some of his previous clients that were based here in Charleston.

So like I said, when we heard Eric's plan we knew that we had to document his photoshoot. This was actually the very first video that we ever made. We shot this with (3) D90 cameras (the D300s wasn't out yet) and for the interview we recorded Eric with an iPhone and then dubbed it over because the D90 didn't have any audio in.
So here's the story; Patrick and I had the idea for FStoppers and we knew that we had to create a bunch of videos to get others excited about creating their own. We had some free time and some money in the bank after a solid wedding season so we decided to go to Vegas. We did not do a good enough job planning anything.
For the past year I have been trying to stay away from TV and I honestly can say that I had never seen this commercial before I watched this video. If I had I would have surely guessed that it was all computer graphics... I could not have been more wrong.
It is so refreshing to see that there all still people out there doing it the old fashion way. What do you guys think?
