Every year Crankworx holds a Mountain bike event in Whistler, Canada that is a combination of downhill, slope-style and enduro competitions. They also host the Deep Summer Photo Challenge, where they put six photographers head to head, with the challenge to build a slide show that showcases mountain bike culture within Whistler. Watch this behind the scenes from Laurence Crossman Emms, as he explains the thought process behind his slide show that later becomes the viewers’ favorite.
Every year National Geographic's Traveler hosts a photo competition to see some of the best photos from all corners of the world. National Geographic had almost 18,000 submissions, in the categories of Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place, and Spontaneous Moments. The Editors chose only 10 for the top prizes. Here are the top three winners, and a few merit winners as well.

Last month we had a contest and asked the Fstoppers Community to submit their best photos in five different categories. The winners of each category would win their choice of three Fstoppers Flash Discs or one free tutorial from the Fstoppers Store. We were very impressed with all of the talent from the community and were delighted to see such a wide spectrum of images in each category. We spent a great deal of time looking over each category, and after much deliberation, we have chosen one lucky winner from the five categories of Fashion, Landscape, Wedding, Glamour, and Portrait.

Fellow Fstoppers instructor Erik Valind and I, Monte Isom, have come up with a contest that offers the whole package to aspiring and working photographers. In my class I'll be teaching how to break into the advertising business and land those large budget jobs to make photography a career instead of just a hobby. Erik will be teaching a class about controlling light with speedlights, where you'll learn to maximize natural light as well as how to light on small to medium budget productions.
The 2015 Fstoppers Workshops is right around the corner, and 2 weeks ago we launched one final contest. On March 19th we are going to give away 5 free classes away to 5 lucky photographers. Our grand prize winner will recieve 2 workshops and we will also cover the cost of their flight and hotel.
We share over 1.8 billion photos per day, and thanks to the ever-growing technology in cameras paired with the expansive world of social media platforms it's become increasingly easy to add the title "photographer" to the resume. Apple has searched high and low for the world's absolute best photographers and their work that spans the planet. The "Shot on iPhone 6" World Gallery features photos from creatives spanning 70 cities in 24 countries, and brings the mobile photography community front and center proving again that the best camera is the one that's with you.
Whether you love or hate wedding photography, it's by far one of the most incredibly difficult forms of photography out there to capture. The fact that you have one shot at getting the couple's once-in-a-lifetime day captured is pressure enough to stay away from it. Junebug Weddings just announced the winners of their 2014 Best of the Best Wedding Photography Collection and the results are astonishing.
The 2014–2015 Nikon Photo Contest is quickly coming to a close, with only a few days left to enter.
