My name is Specialist Charlie Clark. I create content for and help manage the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade (25th CAB) social media pages. This photo was taken through the bottom of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter assigned to Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, during deck landing and sling load qualifications aboard the USS Comstock off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. The flight crew was conducting supply sling load training where they hovered over the rigged-up pallet, and the crew from the ship worked in tandem with the helicopter to connect the supplies to the Chinook. It was challenging to get a shot like this because I had to be strapped into a seat and couldn't directly look at where my camera was aiming, let alone know if the focus was correct. This photo shows the supplies dangling underneath the Chinook and the churning blue of the Pacific Ocean as the helicopter comes in to drop the supplies off on the deck of the Comstock. I used my Sony A7R4 with a Sony 18 - 105 f/4 lens. I believe the photo was shot around f/4, iso 100, and 1/500th shutter speed.
