2.37 - "Needs Work"

This bull named Jack was the real problem of this shoot, he's very timid even though we could feel his aura and the vibrations of each step he made from a distance.

The property owner did a good job reassuring us before shooting when he mentionned that time he almost got crushed by this bull... Or that time a vet dodged death by a few centimeters...

For this shot I wanted to compress the background with a 105mm to better see the cows in the background, the incessant movements of the subjects made me constantly recompose the narrow field of view, I was also on a low shutter speed (I never boost ISO) so most of the shots had motion blur.

The model had to feed Jack the whole time so we can capture the moments he sits still, it took some time to build trust. From outside the small fence I tried to adapt to them and frame them wherever they went but 20 minutes had passed and the photos were bad so I placed the flash to the side and told the model to stay near the flash and hand food from that spot. The bull started to come for the crackers and this is when this shot was taken, there is only 2 other photos I deem usable.

Glad it worked out for this shot eventually because I really thought we wouldn't get anything out of that session. The fearful nature of this bull kept us on our toes the whole time.
