This shot was made hand held with a Nikon D850 and 600mm f4 Lens from a speed boat going at pace.
We were returning from shooting the yacht practicing before the America's Cup in Auckland. There were four or five other photographers on board my boat and we had called it a day so were all packed up and relaxing for the journey back to the media centre.
I saw this shot starting to come together so grabbed my camera and shot forward down the side of the boat. I could have asked the driver to stop the boat but that would have alerted my comrades to the shot and they would have tried to get it as well. I fired off five or six frames and was pretty sure the boat wasn't going to be in any of them let alone sharp. Miraculously this was one of those frames.
