Hot offload on a cold, winter day on Silverton Mountain, Colorado. Very few skiers even know about Silverton Mountain; they only have one chair lift, which was purchased from Mammoth Mountain ski area. There are no green or blue runs and everyone has to carry an avalanche beacon, shovel and probe. One miss-step or fall at the wrong time and you'll end up in the hospital.
This was a tough day of bootpacking at 13,500 feet of elevation and traversing along icy ridgelines. I skied a heli-drop and this was a photo of hot offload process. Not a fancy camera and I had limited time for taking my hands out of my gloves because it was so darn windy and cold.
