I was in Rocky Mountain National Park in September 2023, I had been hoping to see a moose. As I was headed out of the park, I saw a crowd of people and a Park Ranger, at Sheep Lake. The ranger waved me to the last place to park and I jumped out of my car, camera in hand. The moose was in the water eating. Since I had never seen a moose that close, I was totally mesmerized by her size. I propped myself against a tree and started taking pictures. The sun was glaring off the water which made it hard to focus on her due to her being so dark and the glare off the water affected my exposures. When she got out of the water, the landscape changed from water glaring to sun shinning on a grassy area, at that time I saw her offspring. It had been hiding, grazing on some grass behind an incline. I was unable to get good shots of the mom and her young one due to brush, and high grasses. The ranger was very helpful, explaining facts about the mom and young moose who he said was about 9 months old. People were very controlled and respectful of the pair, safely enjoying the wonder of nature. I used Adobe Photo Shop and was able to correct most of the exposure issues of an awesome photography day.
